DEAR DOCTOR

Dear Doctor,

When discussing the c-section I will likely be having for my breech babies, please do not refer to it as VIOLENT. Thanks but no thanks. I'd like to sign up for the non-violent version.

I would venture to guess that most mothers-to-be would prefer another term... perhaps try saying a breech c-section is a bit "trickier" or takes a little more "maneuvering."

Pretty much ANYTHING else.

Thanks,
Ali, Brian, and the ones soon to be ripped VIOLENTLY from my body

Ok, these posts you've written lately are too funny. Love that Brian is so popular among the Asian women. You've got to keep all the future love notes. Your kids will totally enjoy hearing those stories.

As for the term "violent" in reference to the c-section... well, that's just plain evil to say to a pregnant woman. Granted I've never had twins via c-section, but I did have a c-section and I would not say that it was violent. In fact, it was rather convenient. One hour - in and out. Not bad. Recovery was a little tough, but that's given with any surgery.

You'll do great! Nothing to worry about.

I've never heard the term violent c-section. Are they both breech? Wait...I think I read one flipped...I had one head down and one transverse. Of the two c-sections, that one was much better. What is it with doctors and scaring patients??? There's a fine line between preparing them for what could happen and terrifying them. Too many jump right over that line. C-sections are no easy feat, but odds are with you for everything to be a-ok!

Ali-

The Atchleys miss the Babcocks. You look darling with your pregnant belly and boy do the feet shots bring back memories.

The c-section is not that bad. They do push and pull but I wouldn't call it violent. richard always jokes that it looked like the 2 doctors were wrestling. :) can't wait to see pics of these little guys.

Little C was breech. They never mentioned that it was going to be a "violent" birth, but maybe they should have whispered that into Jon's ear. It may have prepped him for what he got to see. I, on the other hand, am very glad I didn't know it would be "violent". Let's hope yours is more peaceful despite the dr warnings.

You've totally made my cloudy, stormy Sunday so much brighter--I love ALL these posts. Was laughing my head off about those sneaky asian women, and then to see your feet (I'll send you a separate email w/a picture of mine w/Camden--I actually busted/snapped a sandal!) and this little diddy to cap it off. Sometimes I wish we could get a refund after Dr.s say things that scare the be-geebies out of us.

Do not even stress about the c-section. #1 took Scott by surprise, but he still managed to film it, and by #2 Scott was talking about how foolish people are who don't get them (um, it's kind of a medical thing, Scott. haha) But his point was how nice and convenient and relaxed it was! There is some tugging but I'm not sure I can even say that was uncomfortable. You'll be fine, it will be great, and while the recovery might not be a walk in the park, (most post-births aren't, c or not) you'll have two adorable, scrumptious loves to bring home!!

Can't wait to hear/see more. Those little babes'll be here before you know it!
